Approach

I’m committed to approach planning theory and practice with the grounding principles of decolonization, spatial justice, and Indigenous emancipation, and I demand respect for Indigenous sovereignty. I recognize that Western methods and theories of planning have contributed to a genocidal past (and, frankly, still contribute to a genocidal present), and I believe I am called to prioritize advocating for adequate Indigenous engagement in any and all projects I will come across. I am afforded plenty of privileges in my life that have given me opportunities to do this work, and it is my social responsibility to be cognizant of my internal Indigenous identity and external privileges while I engage in professional work. Everything I do is grounded by these principles, and I work towards Skén:nen at all times.
